My name is Sarah Filan. I am a Trauma Healing Practitioner and Personal Development Coach and Mentor. I help people to get to the root of difficulties and challenges they may be facing in their daily lives which more often than not are caused by past traumas that have not been healed or processed. I also teach and support people around developing and utilising techniques to reduce stress, anxiety, worry and other uncomfortable emotions, nervous system regulation, effective communication and setting healthy boundaries.

My passions in life are Education, Healing and Personal Development. I also love everything to do with Mind, Body and Spirit. My biggest goal among many is to live an exciting and fulfilling life by utilising my unlimited potential!

I have lived in Cork for most of my life and it is one of my most favourite cities. I love the food, the restaurants and the buzzing atmosphere that pervades the city. A few years ago, when I qualified as a Primary Teacher, I decided to move to London to gain more independence along with professional and life experience outside of my comfort zone. I lived in London for nearly two years and it really was one of the most challenging but rewarding experiences of my life so far! I gained a wealth of experience and independence.

I set up my business – Merry Me Centre in 2016 and since then I have worked tirelessly on developing my skills and experience in order to help people maximise their healing, growth and development. I have had articles published in the Cork Independent relating to Personal Development and Maternal mental and emotional health and wellbeing. I was honoured to give a key note speech at a Network Cork event which was titled – “Building Confidence in Business”. I am a regular guest on Cork’s 96FM Opinion Line speaking about a wide range of topics such as mental/emotional health and Personal Development.

One of the most important things I have learned over time is that life is for living, I have unlimited potential, only I can make the most of my life and that is what I strive to do every day by exploring every opportunity that presents itself to me.

My work is my passion and I thrive on supporting and encouraging people to empower themselves, find a fulfilling purpose and turn inward to make changes within to see long lasting changes in their outside reality.

I founded Merry Me Centre in order to pursue my goal of empowering people to heal trauma, accelerate their personal development, improve their mental and emotional health and well-being. I believe that by honouring values such as awareness, freedom, authenticity, autonomy and independence we can massively increase our quality of life. I have overcome many challenges and difficulties in my life so I have a lot of life experience under my belt. I have already built up a dynamic career for myself and I know what it means to take risks and believe that they will pay off. I have learned very valuable life lessons and I count myself very fortunate to have faced adversity and make it work in my favour. I owe my successes to my drive and determination to heal, grow and develop into the best person I can be.

I am dedicated to and passionate about healing through Personal Development. It has massively changed my life and I believe it can change anyone’s life for the better that is willing to commit to make positive changes (however small they may be initially).

My approach is a holistic one, we will begin by looking at the bigger picture of your life and ascertain what your needs, wants and wishes are. My style of coaching varies according to a persons need. Some people prefer gentle encouragement and other people prefer active accountability. I use the Co-Active coaching model which is based on the premise that every human being is resourceful, creative and whole and that everybody is the expert of their own lives. Values are extremely important to us as humans and when we are not in line with our values, we are “out of sync” with ourselves. In a coaching session, a client’s values are explored at a deep level and then we discover which values need to be implemented and lived up to in what areas of your life.

The service I provide is much more than just coaching sessions on their own, I facilitate a Coaching Process which centres around a holistic approach to your Personal Development and that process involves formal and informal learning. The coaching process includes email support (as and when needed), further learning recommendations, self-reflection exercises and guidance on how to bring about results and meaningful change.

The main Values I uphold are…

Honesty

I pride myself in my honesty and it is one of my core values.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is extremely important to me and is agreed upon in the first session and in each session after that.

Respect

I believe respect is extremely important in every aspect of life. Respect for ourselves and respect for others.

Openness

I strive to be open with everyone I meet and through that openness I build stronger connections with the people I engage with.

Integrity

I have heavily relied upon integrity as a core value throughout my life and I believe without doing so, I would not be as happy and content as I am today.

Optimism

I highly value optimism and even though I know at times it can be hard to be optimistic, I have many times in my life seen the value of keeping the bright side out! This also rings true in my ability to see the best in everyone and everything, it is better to look at the positives rather than negatives because “energy flows where attention goes”.

Other values of mine include empathy, acceptance, creativity, equality, loyalty, freedom, compassion, fairness, family, kindness, reliability, tolerance, friendship, love, forgiveness, trust, spirituality, non-judgement, support, security, learning and connection.
